Description

RLBP (Réseau Large Bande Permanent) is the French permanent seismic network, mostly composed of broadband stations installed all over the metropolitan area and operated by various academic research institutes and observatories. This national observatory service freely provides continuous records of the seismic wavefield in real time and over a wide frequency and dynamic range. These data are mostly used to monitor and characterize the seismic activity (especially through the BCSF-RéNaSS national observatory service) and to improve our knowledge of the internal structure of the Earth at various scales. In october 2019 the RLBP includes 140 broadband stations operated by 8 observatories (OSU) and the CEA-LDG and 6 short period stations (4 remaining from the former RéNaSS short period network). The RLBP network is a specific action of the RESIF (REseau SIsmologique et géodésique Français) national research infrastructure. Within this framework it is evolving toward a seismic antenna of ~190 broadband stations that should drastically improve our capacities in deep earth imaging, seismic sources characterization and seismic- hazard assessment.
